Join ARETÉ SCIENCE to transform mental health care in America!
Together, we can break the stigma, build the political will, and ensure the commitment to quality care for all.
Millions live with untreated Behavioral Brain Disorders due to stigma and systemic neglect. Together, we can change that.

Roughly 70 million Americans suffer from Behavioral Brain Disorders: becoming disabled, estranged from family and society and – in too many cases – dying prematurely. Too-often stigmatized, they lack access to comprehensive health care services... literally robbed of the chance to lead full and gratifying lives.
And the cost for this clearly failing system? The direct public/private costs for mental and substance abuse disorder services alone now approach roughly $225 billion.
ARETÉ SCIENCE aims to build a future where all Americans can access mental health care through a strategic plan implemented in a three-stage process.
Three Stages of Action:
Galvanize Awareness
Policy Reform
Accessible Quality Care
"The painful truth is that we have a Mental Health Crisis in America and are not doing enough to address it."

Jeffrey Lieberman, M.D.
Renowned psychiatrist, researcher, and advocate for mental health reform.
Testimonials
-
"We need our families and friends to understand that the 100 million Americans suffering with mental illness are not lost souls or lost causes. We’re fully capable of getting better, being happy and building rewarding relationships."
Patrick Kennedy
Seven-Term U.S. Congressman and Mental Health Advocate -
"No one would ever say that someone with a broken arm or a broken legs is less than a whole person, but people say that or imply that all the time about people with mental illness."
Elyn Saks, JD, PHD
Orrin B. Evans Distinguished Professor Law at University of Southern California and Mental Health Advocate -
"Depression takes the joy out of lives; often, it takes the lives themselves. It is a treatable condition that is too seldom treated. Mental health is not a luxury, but a right, and the impossibility of accessing decent care is not only a humanitarian disaster, but also an economic one, a narrative of needlessly crushed hopes and terrible anguish."
Andrew Solomon, PHD
Author, Professor of Clinical Medical Psychology at Columbia University Medical Center, and Mental Health Advocate
There’s so much we can do together to close the mental health treatment gap.
